This was made on summer night in the Garage 2019. You can hear the evening insects calling. I was experimenting with simplicity here. I had that guitar line worked up and added drums followed by bass. I had no lyrics for the song. I started thinking of my day, I was upset listening to the new that morning. Talking heads, Trump, USSR, USA, Putin. I didnt know what to write, but I knew I wanted to use "Molotov Cocktail". So, without getting too political, here it is.


Sounds:

Guitars: 70s Vega hollow body thru a 60's Fender deluxe reverb amp. Sure 57 on the amp. I also used the Vega tuned way down to get the bass tones. Flat wound strings.

Drums: Japanese kick/snare/hi hat with tambourine. Pillow case over the snare.

Vocals: I doubled up my vocal take using a Sure 57.

If you ever make it to Molotov, I tell it to you It's true, there ain't corn liquor in Molotov, not even a jar or two.
If you ever get to Molotov, you better turn around right fast. The streets up here in Molotov are covered in broken glass.
If I find some kerosene, I don't know how long I'll last..

If you ever gamble in Molotov, the rounders there are tough. There ain't one rounder in Molotov who ain't gonna call your bluff.
If you loose, then they choose how to make you pay.
Gamblers up here in Molotov, they're collecting every day.
Well, if I don' t get a jack of spades, Im gonna set this place up in flames.

I had a dream in Molotov, I was standing on a wire. The liquor store and the local news were starting to catch fire. In my had I had a can of quality turpentine, I threw that can at the local news and watched them flames burn higher. Well, if I don't get the truth theres no telling what I might do. And if someone dont pour me a drink, I cant even begin to think.

I got the Molotov cocktail blues.
